Nine to Five Closed Tests Begin on Sep. 17th

As you might know, we’ve recently announced a new series of Closed Tests, that will help us test experimental ideas with a select group of players. We’re excited to reveal that the first test will start on September 17 and will mainly focus on player movement, a new revive system, team cooperation in round 3, and gunplay.

Movement

Considering the player feedback, we tweaked the character movement speed and animations to make it more fluid and responsive, especially when switching between walking and sprinting.

Revive

We are introducing a new revive system. Now after being shot, you enter the downed state before bleeding out and dying, in that state you can be revived by your living teammates.

Joining teams in round 3

To make the game objectives in the Round 3 clearer and to promote cooperation among the defending teams, we have made changes on how these two teams interact with each other. Players can now easily spot others working toward the same objective but cannot deal damage to those players.

Gunplay

Even though gunplay will be the major focus in the second phase of the Closed Tests, we have already addressed some of the more pressing issues.

Acknowledging the issue with the size of the weapon, we improved the angle and adjusted the space the gun occupies on the screen. Besides that, we worked on improving the recoil pattern and animation to help players to better aim and shoot at moving targets in mid-range.

Other changes

  • The death drones have been disabled.
  • New usable items, such as gas grenades and auto turrets.
  • Friendly fire has also been disabled.
  • The Old New York map was reworked and polished. The number of objects on the map was doubled. We also added trees.

Please note that the primary goal of the Closed Tests is to not just try some of the suggested changes and feedback from Alpha, but also gather further player feedback and ensure that the games development is moving in the right direction.

How to get access to the Closed Test?

We are excited to announce that we will be using STEAM to distribute the build for these Closed Tests.

You can sign up to join the Closed Tests by follow these steps:

  1. Sign up via this form.
  2. Wait for the confirmation email, which will include a unique STEAM activation code.
  3. Activate the game on STEAM using your unique activation code.

The signup form for the first Closed Test will be closed on September 15

Remember, the space is limited, so not everyone will be able to participate. However, we still encourage everyone to register as we will invite more people to join the Closed Tests.

How long will this Closed Test last?

The first test will take place from 17th to 19th of September

We want to keep the first test short so we could quickly try and iterate new features and implement them before the next phase of the Closed Tests.

We will have European and North American servers and they will run daily on a following schedule:

  • European servers: 17:00-22:00 UTC+1 / 18:00-23:00 CEST / 19:00-00:00 EEST
  • North American servers: 17:00-22:00 PDT / 20:00-1:00 EDT / 3:00 – 8:00 EEST

Expect to hear more from us, as we move toward the next phases of Closed Testing. We want to ensure that as we move forward in our development, we keep you updated on everything that’s coming up.

With love,
Redhill Games
